Admissions & Transport

Settle College welcomes students aged 11 to 18 in Years 7 to 13. The school is a comprehensive community school and students are admitted without their ability being assessed. Places at Settle College will normally be provided for children living within the local area. We are also happy to accept applications from children outside these areas.

Settle College admissions are handled by North Yorkshire Council. All admissions enquiries and applications must be directed to NYC in the first instance. 

If your child is in Year 6 at a catchment primary schools, you do still need to submit a formal application for a place at Settle College in Year 7. Parents are able to express their preference for a place at any state funded school. Guidance, application deadlines and other key dates are all available on the NYC website (see "How to Apply" below).

Arrangements for Admission of Students to Year 7

Parents of children who are in Year 6 at primary school will need to submit a formal application for a place at Settle College in Year 7 via the North Yorkshire Council admissions website (see "How to Apply" above). school transport

Please see the transport page on the North Yorkshire Council website. NYC provides free transport for students in years 7-11, to the nearest school to their home. 

Settle College operates a chargeable bus service from Skipton/Gargrave/Embsay. Contact the Finance Team for more information on 01729 822451.

Sixth Form students are able to purchase places on school transport if there is available capacity. Bursary support is available in some situations.

Open Days and Evenings

We hold an Open Day and Evening early in the Autumn term, when parents are encouraged to visit to see the College at work and to talk to the Head Teacher and staff about the opportunities available. Details of these events will be advertised through the local Primary Schools, Settle College website and also in the local media.
