Settle College Celebrates Outstanding Student Success in Summer 2025

A Level Results Day

Settle College is delighted to announce the exceptional achievements of our students in the summer 2025 exam series. The results reflect the dedication, resilience and ambition shown by the class of 2025, with many students now progressing to top universities and exciting future pathways.

Among this year’s high achievers, several students have truly excelled. Hannah Bamford achieved a suite of A and B grades and is set to begin studying Politics and International Relations at Newcastle University. Hannah has shown outstanding commitment to her studies and is well-prepared to thrive in higher education.

Belle Kay secured an impressive three A grades and a B. Belle will be joining the University of York to study the Psychology of Education. Her passion for understanding how people learn has shone through in her academic work.

Charlie Wallbank achieved grades of A*, A, B, and C, and will be heading to Leeds to pursue Human Geography. Charlie’s curiosity about the world around us and his analytical skills have been a real asset to the college community, leading exceptionally well as one of our three key Student Leaders.

Betsy Wolfenden-Smith achieved A, C, C and is planning an exciting gap year before moving on to further study or employment. Betsy’s positive approach and determination have made her a role model for younger students, and she thanked her teachers for their support.

Gareth Whitaker, Headteacher at Settle College, shared his pride in the students’ achievements:

“I am immensely proud of every student at Settle College this year. Their hard work, determination and resilience have led to fantastic results and bright futures. The successes of Hannah, Belle, Charlie and Betsy are just a few examples of the talent and ambition in this year group. Without naming them all, another that immediately comes to mind is Holly Brown, who has been successful in joining the Royal Marines band service - an incredible achievement and Holly said she is “proud and excited” for her next steps.

On behalf of all the staff, I wish all students every success in their next steps and look forward to hearing about their future accomplishments, welcoming them back to our prize giving at St Alkelda’s church in Giggleswick in December.”

Mr Whitaker also offered these words of inspiration to all students and families:

“Success of course is not just about the grades you achieve, but the person you become on your journey. Aim high, be kind, and remember that every step forward is a step towards your dreams. Handing out results today reminds us all of the committed community we are.”

Hannah Bamford said, "I’m very happy to be getting into my first choice (of university). I can’t wait to start the next chapter in Newcastle!" Belle Kay had tears of joy at exceeding her offer, and Charlie Wallbank quite simply said, ‘It’s a cracking school, teachers are great. I couldn’t have done it without them and I’m very happy for my first choice.”

Settle College remains committed to providing an environment where every student can flourish. We congratulate all our students on their achievements and thank parents, carers and staff for their unwavering support.
