Rob achieved B, B and C in Geography, Physical Education and Biology and is currently taking a year out before embarking on his university studies.
“After achieving good grades at GCSE level, I felt compelled to continue my education to a further level and to gain a more in depth knowledge of my 4 favourite subjects: Physical Education, Geography, Biology and Maths. All four subjects were challenging however I was keen to apply for the Head Boy role which I found very rewarding, learning new skills such as communication and leadership. Whilst studying at A-Level it became clear I was weaker in two subjects which were Maths and Biology, however the school and the teachers picked up on this and were quick to offer me extra help. Because of this help I was able to achieve higher grades than I thought were possible whilst studying these courses and this has opened up plenty more opportunities for me.
I am currently taking a year out in order to discover what I would like to do as a career, so in the meantime I have a role of Senior Lifeguard at Settle Swimming Pool in order to boost my CV further and earn some money before University. At the moment I am looking into studying Sports Science at university with the possibility of having a career in teaching or performance analysis.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Settle College for a wonderful 5 years and for helping me achieve BBC at A-Level to give me a foundation for the future.”
Amy achieved A*, A, B and A in Geography, Biology, History and Extended Project Qualification respectively and has embarked on her university studies, studying Law at Newcastle University.
I really enjoyed my time at Settle College! I couldn’t have asked for a better education and I had great relationships with all my teachers, who were all eager to help me succeed. The school gave me a number of opportunities, one of which was being a member of the Sixth Form Committee, which has greatly enhanced my leadership capabilities. I studied Biology, History and Geography at A-Level. I also undertook an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) based on modern day slavery. I obtained the grades A* (Geography), A (Biology), B (History) and an A (EPQ). I am going on to study Law at Newcastle University which was my first choice. I have no idea if I’ll end up as a barrister, solicitor, judge or something completely different, but I’m determined to be successful and happy in whatever career I choose! I’m very glad I chose to study both GCSEs and A-Levels at Settle College because I could not have experienced better teaching and support throughout the 5 years I spent at the school.
Ben is now reading Geography and Planning at the University of Sheffield.
Alex achieved A, B and D in History, Spanish and Physics.
