Key Stage 5
Maths is a popular option at both AS and A2. In addition we have a small number of students studying Further Maths. We follow the AQA specification. Decision Maths forms part of the AS course. This modern branch of Mathematics has proved so popular that it is now a feature of the A2 course.
Key Stage 5 students find the purchase of a graphical calculator invaluable. This can be arranged (at dramatically reduced cost) through College.
We participate in such things as the UK Mathematics Challenge and National Number Day. Whilst all students are offered (and many accept!) wide-ranging extra-curricular support with their mathematical studies, we would like to develop the range of opportunities available beyond the classroom. All suggestions for clubs are welcome. Students are also offered the opportunity to participate in extensive study days run by the Further Maths Network.
AS and A2 Maths students receive five Maths lessons per week. Further Maths students receive two or three Maths lessons per week and are therefore required to undertake plenty of self study.
