What Year 9 students will do in their Art lessons:
During the year you will investigate the work of a variety of Artists, Art Movements and different Cultures, exploring the different ideas and elements that influenced their work. We also work in a variety of materials to explore their qualities and the different techniques and processes used in works creating Art.
Painting: Cubism Using Tone to create shape and form
Sculpture: Modeling, relief work Construction based on the ideas of the Surrealists.
Print: Block repeat printing Cultural Pattern.
Students will have one lesson per week
They are welcome to use the Art rooms at lunchtime to promote their skills. On Tuesday lunchtime Mrs. Scott holds a “Malham Safari” workshop where the students are invited to make large scale sculptural animals using withies and other construction materials.
We hold a “Technology Day” each year which allows the Year
9 students to choose an activity of their choice; last year we produced two permanent murals for our Dining Room; and banners to adorn the main hall.
