Drama Staff

Louise Cowan

Why do you love teaching Drama?

Drama is a good excuse for all (staff and students) to behave like we’re all 10 years younger! It is also makes you feel genuinely moved when you see your students entertain and engage an audience, having been on their ‘journey’ of rehearsal.  It really is fantastic to see students develop in their confidence and love of the subject.

What makes a good performer?

Flexibility, perseverance, control and a sense of humour in the face of adversity!

Who you would like to play you in a TV / film version of your life? Ooh someone slim !!!  Patsy Kensit (a fellow lively red-head)

Why do you love teaching Drama?

I’ve always loved Drama since my first nativity play! As a student at school I used to queue outside the Royal Shakepseare Theatre, which was near where I lived, at 4.00 on a Saturday morning in order to be able to buy a standing ticket (that's all I could afford) when the box office opened at 9.00 am, for the evening performance. Keen or what?

What makes a good performer?

Someone who can take me out of my own little world - make me cry, laugh, get angry, feel hate, love whether I want to or not!

Who would you like to play you in a film / TV version of your life?

Somebody very tall, very thin and very young - Penelope Cruz perhaps?
