In September of 2008 the teachers from the Sri Lankan schools visited North Yorkshire. They were received in York with a welcome buffet hosted by the Vice Chancellor of York St John University. Prassanna then spent four days at Settle College visiting lessons, speaking to students and working with Mrs Cowan, Miss Filler, Mr Johnson and others to set up curriculum projects. In science for instance English students will study a bog environment in Langcliffe and will compare this with a mangrove swamp studied by the Sri Lankan students.
Prassanna also spent some time working with Year11 students on Sri Lankan poetry before visiting Austwick Primary School.
Mrs Cowans Visit
Mrs Cowan visited Sri Lanka and the school in Feb 09, below are two reports from her about her visit
Student Visits
In the summer of 2009 there will a tour of North Yorkshire students to Hanbantota. The nine linked schools will each send a number of Year 10 students to take part in a cricket and dance festival. The tour will last for ten days and will be a fantastic opportunity for the students involved. It will be costly so the students will be involved in fund raising schemes over the coming months
