ICT Facilities @ Settle College

Technology College status has brought considerable benefits to the whole College, including significant investment in the ICT Infrastructure of the College.  The College currently has the following:

 

  • 220 Computers – which is in excess of the DCFS required ratio.

  • Two large ICT Rooms to ensure every student in the largest classes has a computer each to work on
  • A dedicated High Specification Media Studies teaching room with 10 dedicated Media Editing Computers
  • Dedicated 6th Form Centre ICT Area with specialist Isis Concepts Furniture to allow a multi-functional ICT / Study Area
  • Data Projectors in every classroom, with a large number of rooms boasting Interactive Whiteboards
  • Departments such as Design & Technology, Textiles and Music have specialist hardware to support the Curriculum, such as CNC Routers, Laithes, Sewing Machines, Vinyl Cutters and much more
  • Fully Networked A3 Colour Printing Facilities College Wide

As well as the above, and many more technological investments, the College has a dedicated full time ICT Network Manager & ICT Technician to support and develop the ICT Facilities, they work with all departments to ensure that the ICT Provisions are carefully monitored and to allow us to prioritise our systems developments to ensure we are fully supporting the teaching and learning of all students in the College as well as ensuring the high level of reliability that the College prides itself on.

The latest improvements to the College's ICT Facilities has been the start of a program of Network Restructuring & upgrades which will provider a much higher speed network, a large number of new or upgraded Computers, a much expanded storage system, and a move over the next 2 years to the latest Microsoft software releases, Windows 7 and Office 2010. This ensures that the students are up to date on all the latest technology and software ready for life after the College.
