Small businesses are fundamental to the development and prosperity of society. This is clearly evident today in Settle, where our local economy relies heavily on small businesses. The diverse network of small businesses caters for all elements of the community, and in doing so, provides employment and income for many local people.
Many great business ideas fail due to poor planning and execution. The Settle College Business Studies Department aims to provide students with an understanding of businesses, both large and small, and equip them with the skills that they need to be successful young entrepreneurs.
The Business Studies Department aims to:
Develop knowledge and understanding of the business world
Develop analytical thinking in the preparation and investigation of business data
Develop student’s communication skills including appropriate use of ICTs.
Foster enterprising ideas, inquisitive thinking, and creative approaches to problem solving.
Settle College offers GCSE Business Studies, AS and A2 Applied Business qualifications. Both qualifications are approved by Edexcel.
