Anne Frank Exhibition

June 22, 2015 - July 3, 2015

Anne Frank LogoStudents from Settle College, our feeder primaries and also Giggleswick School will participate in the Anne Frank Trust UK Schools Programme this fortnight. The programme aims to challenge prejudice and reduce hatred by giving young people the opportunity to explore the power of Anne Frank’s diary and the history of the Holocaust, while shaping their attitudes on issues that affect them in the 21st century.
Over a two week period, the acclaimed exhibition ‘Anne Frank: a History for Today’ is brought in to school where a group of students are trained to guide their peers around the exhibition. Accompanying the display, are a range of workshops tackling themes including discrimination, identity, diversity and human rights.
Anne Frank and her family were forced into hiding to escape persecution by the Nazi occupation. While in hiding for two long years, she kept a diary documenting her thoughts, hopes and dreams. Her father, Otto, was the Frank family’s sole survivor. Fulfilling his daughter’s wish to become a writer, Otto decided to publish Anne’s diary, so that people would remember his daughter and the millions of other men, women and children who lost their lives in the Holocaust.
