Settle College Sixth Form students are successful through the pandemic.
Settle College students have celebrated great success this summer, despite the interruption to their education back in March. Many students achieved the top grades of A*, A and B with a great success rate for their chosen Universities, with 86% achieving their first place choices.
The majority of exam entries continue to be in the A Level facilitating subjects, but as an inclusive comprehensive Sixth Form performance was equally strong in vocational subjects, with excellent results from students.
Daisy Greenwood, who achieved an A* in Art, an A in geography and an A in history, said, ‘I am just so happy and grateful to the teachers for their support and encouragement over the time at Settle College.” Daisy is going on to study history at Oxford University.

I’m happy with the results and they’ve got me one step closer to what I want to do. I really did enjoy my time at school and the teachers had a personal knowledge of us in the small classes which was helpful. Thank you to the school as it’s always been a solid base. Teachers were always approachable and go the extra mile for every student’. They really care and encourage you to do your best. He goes on to study Astrophysics at Keele University.

Lily said ‘My time at Settle College has been fantastic and I was sad to see it cut short. The teachers are second to none and really make the school what it is. I am extremely happy with my results and cannot thank my teachers enough for all they have done for me throughout the years.’
Charlotte Wilkinson achieved an A* in Art, B in English Language and C in geography. Following calls to all students today, she said ‘I am extremely happy with my results. These grades will allow me to go to Aberystwyth University to study Fine Art and Creative Writing. I would like to thank everyone at Settle College for the help and support that allowed me to achieve these results’.

Headteacher, Gareth Whitaker, said, ‘We want to congratulate all students receiving their results today and wish them every success in their future studies and careers in what has ended abruptly through this pandemic. We are so very proud of all our Sixth Form students receiving results today, they have been a thoughtful, hardworking and tenacious bunch of students, who have coped admirably with the changes they have had to face. These results demonstrate the outstanding efforts of both students and staff. We are also proud that our students contribute to the wider life of the school and the community, knowing of those that have helped in our communities through the lockdown period. Whilst we haven’t seen students in person today, the leadership team have made sure each and every student has been called, wishing them well for their future and supporting any questions they have had”.
