Tala and Aspen Pattinson, who achieved 24 A* and A grades between them at GCSE, have achieved identical A-Level results in the same subjects. Both achieved an A* in English Literature, an A* in Geography, an A in History and an A* in the Extended Project Qualification. Tala, who is going on to study Law at the University of Manchester said, ‘It is fantastic to have done so well and surpass my own expectations – it just shows that all the hard work is really worth it in the end.’ Aspen, who is going to study English Literature at Edinburgh University said, ‘It is an amazing feeling to have finished on such a high. A-Levels are definitely the hardest thing I have done but it’s completely worth it.’
Settle College students celebrated amazing successes today, with the best A-Level results ever. 64% of students achieved the top grades of A*, A and B. This is an improvement of 8% on 2015 and a 30% improvement on results in the last three years. There was also a 100% pass rate across every single subject, with the vast majority of students achieving their first choice University places.
Thirty five percentage of grades were A* and A, which is significantly above the national average. The majority of entries were in the facilitating A-Level subjects. 73% of grades were A*/A in the Extended Project Qualification, which enhances students’ study and research skills and is excellent preparation for University and, across English, Maths, Geography and History, 72% of grades were A*, A or B and 43% of grades were A* or A.
Sam Bolton, who achieved A* in Chemistry, Maths, Further Maths and Physics and is going on to study Mathematics at Durham University said, ‘I couldn’t be more pleased with my results or more grateful to Settle College. These last two years will be difficult to top!’
Fred Price, who achieved an A in English Literature, Geography and History and is going on to study Geography at the University of Manchester, said, ‘I couldn’t be happier with my achievements.’
